The Wit and Wisdom of Mark Twain

Saturday March 22, 2008
When I think of wit, one name that always comes to mind is Mark Twain.

Samuel Langhorne Clemens, popularly known by his pen name Mark Twain, was a satirist par excellence. Mark Twain satire has become a must read in English literature curriculums all over the world.

Twain is one of the most quoted authors. In fact Mark Twain insults are some of my personal favorites. Despite having very little formal education himself, Mark Twain's education quotes are a delight to read. In addition, religion quotes by Mark Twain can contribute to the development of one's perspective of religion. Some people interpreted parts of his writings to be racist in nature. But Was Mark Twain Racist? I do not think so.

Though Twain was nowhere as vocal about death as Walt Whitman was, Mark Twain Death quotes still make for interesting reading.

If you have read famous books by Mark Twain, such as Adventures of Huckleberry Finn or The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, you will be delighted to read my selection of his quotations.
