Timon of Athens

Beautiful Quotes from Timon of Athens

By , About.com Guide

Unlike other plays by Shakespeare, Timon of Athens did not gain much popularity during his time. Literature critics believe that the strange construct of the play makes it seem like an incomplete draft. Most plots within the play remain unexplained and there is less focus on the flow of the story too. However Timon of Athens is a beautiful characterization of Timon, a misanthrope who has shut himself from the world.

Timon of Athens, Act V, Sc. I
Life's uncertain voyage.

Timon of Athens, Act IV, Sc. II
We have seen better days.

Timon of Athens, Act II, Sc. II
'T is lack of kindly warmth.

Timon of Athens, Act IV, Sc. III
Are not within the leaf of pity writ.

Timon of Athens, Act III, Sc. V
Nothing emboldens sin so much as mercy.

Timon of Athens, Act I, Sc. II
Men shut their doors against a setting sun.

Timon of Athens, Act III, Sc. I
Every man has his fault, and honesty is his.

Timon of Athens, Act II, Sc. II
Every room
Hath blazed with lights and bray'd with minstrelsy.

Timon of Athens, Act I, Sc. I
But flies an eagle flight, bold and forth on,
Leaving no tract behind.
